Liturgy Committee

The Liturgy Committee plans, implements, and evaluates the liturgies (Masses, prayer services) of the seasons of the Church, especially in Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, and Easter. It also reviews the liturgical procedures in accordance with the General Instructions of the Roman Missal (GIRM) and pastoral considerations. Membership consists of the coordinators of our Altar Server, Environment & Art (Church and Mission), Minister of Communion, Usher, Lector, and Music Ministries and our clergy, and meetings are facilitated by our liturgy coordinator.

The Mass is the source and summit of our Christian life. We come to St. Joseph Parish every Sunday to listen to the Word of God and be nourished by the Body and Blood of Christ, and at the same time bring our gifts and individual prayers to become one united community of believers. Through service, we live out our baptismal promise to serve one another and build up the Body of Christ in our world.

Every Sunday you see members of our community serve through different liturgical ministries to ensure that our celebration of the Mass is a prayerful and inspiring experience for all who come to worship here with us. Modeled after different facets of the life of Christ, each ministry takes on a unique and essential role in the celebration of the Holy Mass – welcoming the stranger, proclaiming the Word of God, and serving each other at the feast.

Discern the gifts and talents you can share with our parish community. Consider becoming an Altar Server, Environment & Art Minister (Church and Mission), Minister of Communion, Usher, Lector, and/or Choir member. Help enhance our liturgical celebrations at St. Joseph while deepening your faith and spirituality through service. Contact the coordinator of the specific liturgical ministry to join or learn more about the ministry.
